Bude – Catesby’s plans for Binhamy get approved
Catesby are delighted that the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government has finally approved its plans for development at Binhamy Farm in Bude, Cornwall. Catesby made an application for up to 400 dwellings, retail and employment uses in December 2008 which Cornwall Council, notwithstanding an Officer’s recommendation to grant, refused in August 2009. An Appeal was lodged and a Public Inquiry in front of a Planning Inspector took place in March 2010. In August 2010, notwithstanding the Planning Inspector recommended the Appeal should be allowed, the Secretary of State initially refused permission. However, Catesby challenged this decision in the High Court and the decision was overturned in December 2010. The Secretary of State had therefore to reconsider his original decision and finally granted outline planning consent this week. Catesby will now focus on bringing its plans to fruition.
