We worked with the Council to secure an allocation in the Cherwell Local Plan in 2015, and in early 2019 we secured planning permission on the first phase on the land (circa 128 acres / 52 hectares).
Outline planning was granted for up to 1,000 new homes, a mixed-use centre, primary school and playing fields for the secondary school alongside other social infrastructure benefits.
Post-grant of planning the site was purchased from the landowner in late 2019 and the site has been serviced with the necessary road infrastructure, including the formation of a new roundabout access from the A361 together with a new link road through the site.
The site was sold to Persimmon Homes in 2023 to build up to 1,000 properties ranging from one-bedroom apartments to five-bedroom homes which will include 30% affordable housing.
Russell Griffin, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes South Midlands added: “We are very pleased to have worked on this exciting opportunity in Banbury. This will allow us to maintain our sales presence in the town and continue delivering much needed quality homes in this area.
“Persimmon Homes are focused on delivering high quality homes and creating sustainable communities for future generations. This is an exciting opportunity for the company with huge potential.
“The scheme will provide a sustainable community with facilities for the wider area including a local centre, sports pitches and further land for the local school. We look forward to delivering the first homes in 2023.
