Catesby Estates plc & Guildhall Estates have been working on proposals for an extension to the existing Longhedge Village housing development.

Catesby Estates has submitted a hybrid planning application to Wiltshire Council.  This consist of an outline planning application for new homes, alongside a full detailed application for employment space.  Guildhall Estates will shortly be submitting their application for the local centre development including a neighbourhood retail parade, children’s nursey and care home facility

We wanted to update local residents on our proposals.  We wrote to local residents early in 2018 for feedback on our initial proposals.  We have carefully reviewed all the comments received from local residents and councillors and have revised our proposals for the site in response.

You spoke, we listened – the changes made include:

  • Reduced the number of homes proposed from 90 to 65.
  • 40% Affordable Housing.
  • Pedestrian and cycle routes will link the homes and proposed neighbourhood centre with the existing village and wider area. These combined with the existing Park and Ride facility, will help to minimise car usage.
  • Existing hedgerows and trees will be supplemented with landscape buffers to retain rural character as well as providing a haven for local wildlife.
  • 29 small light industrial units available for rent or purchase by local businesses.  A developer has been appointed to build these units.
  • A local convenience retail parade along with a care home and a children's day nursery is proposed by Guildhall Estates.

Now our outline planning application is submitted, Wiltshire Council will carry out a formal consultation on the proposals with local residents.  We will respond to any comments made during the application determination period.
