Catesby Estates have submitted outline plans for the construction of up to 90 new homes on 11.7 acres of land known as Lakeside Gardens, off Odell Road, Harrold, Bedfordshire.

The land lies within the administrative area of Bedford Borough Council, which is working on a new draft Local Plan.

The outline planning application includes 30% affordable housing, local equipped area of play (LEAP) and improved footpath links to the village core.

Ed Barrett, Senior Planning Manager for Catesby Estates said “Harrold is recognised within the draft Local Plan as a rural service centre due to its diverse mix of facilities and services, and its suitability to accommodate residential growth.”

“Our sensitively designed proposals for Lakeside Gardens has been tailored to fit the character of the local area and surrounding landscape, whilst providing an increased range of new homes for local residents, including smaller 1 and 2 bedroom properties and bungalows.”

The application will undergo a statutory consultation period, where anyone who wishes to make their views known on the development can submit their comments to Bedford Borough Council before it goes before the planning committee later this year.

Should the application be approved, Catesby will then work with housebuilders to deliver a range of new homes, with first residents taking occupation early 2021.
